The weather here is hot-I've almost lost all fear of Hell's temperatures. We sure need some good soaking rains. The animal's fur is flying all over the place-I have to clean off the fans every two or three days to keep the air flowing.
Pat and I sure enjoyed our trip to the shows in Columbus, Ohio. We would like to thank all the people who helped put the shows on and the tremendous work they did. Chuck Henderson spent the better part of the two weeks there putting up and taking down cages, moving things around for the judges and other assorted things. Ruth Henderson spent many, many hours taking care of the things Ohio state had for sale and helping in many other areas. We always enjoy going to Columbus-the faculties are great and the area is easy to get around in. We are sure hoping to get to shows in the fall-our season is just about finished for the summer. Still a few shows to do around here but it is too hot to take the animals out. Will close for now and DON'T FORGET TO VOTE. WE USUALLY HAVE A POOR RETURN OF BALLOTS-MARK THEM AS SOON AS YOU GET THE BALLOT AND MAIL IT RIGHT BACK THAT WAY YOU WON'T FORGET IT UNTIL IT IS TOO LATE. DEADLINE IS POSTMARKED AUGUST 1ST. Until next time...

Came back from a show in Missouri. We usually stay with Matt in Oklahoma but we decided to drive right back-long drive, but great to get away with all the storms we have been having. There were 1,300 rabbits in two shows each and seven judges. Usually have a a few slow judges but they were lucky some judges were there showing so they put them to work after lunch.
I received a letter from Claude Elliot and I hope he doesn't mind me telling all bust last December his local rabbit club in Ellinwood had their Christmas Dinner 1 Great Bend so I sent by and picked him and his wife up and took them to dinner. He was using a walker and it took a little time to get to the truck to go. When we go to the restaurant it took another fifteen minutes to get to the table. To make the story short, we spent a lot of time coming and going, and I figured this was the last time he would ever go out to eat. Dinner was on the 15th and he was put into the hospital on the 20th and out January 19th. Of course, when you need a doctor they are out of time so they brought one in from Oklahoma. He figured out the problem and they put him on antibiotics to get the infection down so they could fill six teeth and pull six. I think he was like my dad who is 93 and had trouble last fall with his teeth, Lord they can sure cause a problem. Claude made the statement that he didn't think he would make it through it all but he did and wants to go out and eat again so his teeth must be better.
Until next time---

I haven't been to many shows since San Diego of last year. I did make it to the Evergreen RBA Show on March 6th. Congratulations to Margaret Cummings for winning BOB in BOTH SHOWS WITH HER AWSOME SENIOR DOE.
I just got back from our Western Standard Chinchilla RBA specialty shows in Pueblo, Co. the weekend of April 24th. Carry, Lori and I made the trip and had a great time, despite the snowy weather to and from Pueblo. It was great to see Ken and Shirley Wilson, Janay Lyon, and Joan Thies again, and look forward to seeing them again next year in Missouri for out National Show. (April 9, 2011) I think we had around 48 animals which were shown in both specialty shows and the Colorado Rabbit Roundup also.
Congratulations to the winners: Janay took BOB in show A and I took BOS. Ken took BOB in Show B and I took BOS. Ken took BOB and BOS in the Colorado show with juniors!! I got an award for the animals with the worst table manners. My senior buck had never been to a show before and he figures out how to get out of the judging coop and in the second show he thought playing escape was a game, and by the third show we had to place a #25 box of potatoes on his judging coop to keep him in, and he still won BOS in two of three shows!! He is now living with Carry down in Ca. and hopefully will learn a little about show etiquette.
I think my next show will be in Wa. State Conv. The end of June. Hopefully it will habe stopped raining by them. Its now the first of May and we are being blasted by winter storms here in the NorthWest.
Hope everyone had a good spring breeding season. I'm running two bucks to every doe this spring which is better than last fall where all I got were bucks. Until later...

I raised rabbits years ago, and I'm planning on getting back into that this spring/summer. Standard Chinchillas are a breed I've settled on due to their size and color. I've been to a few shows in this area and there don't seem to be too many standard chinchillas shown here. (I did see some Americans)
If any of your members in Minnesota, Wisconsin, or Iowa would like to contact me about the Standards, I'd certainly love to talk to them about getting my start with this breed.
I travel through Illinois and Indiana about twice a year and I hope to meet breeders in those areas, if possible. Plus, and this is great luck for me, the National ARBA show is in Minnesota this year, 20 minutes from my house!
